Badly-Inflated Tyres may find that they are endangering their car insurance policies

Motorists with tyres that are not inflated to the proper level may find that they are endangering their car insurance policies each time they head out onto the road. Authorities are worried that more people are not checking the tyre pressures often enough to keep their vehicles safe.
Vehicle tyre pressure should be checked around once a month and adjusted according to the type of journey taken. For example when driving away on holiday the car may well have a much larger load to carry than normal and a corresponding increase in tyre pressure can help to prevent a dangerous tyre blow out. Tyre pressures for different driving conditions can usually be found in the driver’s handbook.

If the tyre is allowed to run under-inflated then excessive heat builds up due to extra friction with the road. This significantly increases the chance of a blow-out which could be catastrophic particularly at high speeds. In addition, if the tyre pressures are too low the vehicle will need to use more fuel to overcome the increased drag.

If the tyre pressure is too high then this can cause problems with steering and keeping the car under control on the road which could lead to the increased chance of a collision. So make sure you check your tyre pressures are inflated the correct amount to save money, insurances costs and even lives.
